Niverville's Adult Day Program

The Adult Day Program is a non-profit program sponsored by the Department of Health and the local Services to Senior's Board. It is operated from the Golden Friendship Centre located at 118 2nd Avenue South.. At present, the Adult Day Program operates two days a week - Monday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. under the direction of a Day Program Coordinator, assistant and volunteers.

 

GOALS & OBJECTIVES

To strengthen the individual’s level of independence, personal and social skills in a supportive,
friendly environment. To communicate with the support services to maintain an effective program.


ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION

A Homecare Assessment will be completed by the Case Coordinator to determine the
eligibility the eligibility of admission to the Adult Day Progam. A refferal may
come from any source. (e.g. another program, agency, family member or friend.)
Admission is a joint decision by the Homecare Case Coordinator and the Adult Day
Program Coordinator. The individual must have a need for socialization, recreation,
activity, health and personal care that can partially be met by the program.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Activities are planned that generally appeal to seniors and encompass a range of interests,
creativity and abilities. Activities may include opportunities to communicate with others,
physical fitness, mobility, serving other people, cultural enrichment, memory stimulation,
games, health maintenance and promotion.

SAMPLE DAY

9:00 Clients begin to arrive
9:30 Coffee/Breakfast
10:00 Musical entertainment and Bible Reading
10:30 Physical Exercise Program designed for Seniors
11:00 Game Time – Variety of games
12:00 Lunch – a hot nutritious meal is prepared on the premises
1:00 Mental Exercise (a period of rest is also offered)
1:45 Bingo
2:30 Snack
2:45 Clients prepare for home.

There is a User Fee, determined by the
Government of Manitoba
